It is a genuine game-changer for printing ABS, ASA, and Nylon on a budget. However, it suffers from several cheap design choices, a severely outdated Klipper fork, and a terrifying electrical safety flaw on early units that buyers must be aware of.

The $400 to $500 3D printer market is currently dominated by open-frame "bed slingers" like the Bambu Lab A1 and the Creality Ender-3 V3. These machines are fantastic for PLA and PETG, but if you want to print engineering-grade materials that require a heated enclosure, you are usually forced to spend $900 or more.

A note on the 600 mm/s speed claim: While the toolhead can physically travel at 600 mm/s without losing steps, real-world printing at this speed produces terrible surface quality. Qidi Q1 Pro vs. Bambu Lab A1

The Bambu Lab A1 ($399) is an open-frame "bed slinger." The Bambu is significantly more polished, has a vastly superior touchscreen, a better software ecosystem, and supports the AMS Lite for multi-color printing. If you only print PLA and PETG, buy the Bambu A1. However, the A1 cannot print ABS or Nylon reliably because it lacks an enclosure. If you need engineering materials, the Q1 Pro wins easily.

Qidi Q1 Pro vs. Creality Ender-3 V3

The Ender-3 V3 ($399) features a CoreXZ motion system and is incredibly fast, but like the Bambu A1, it is an open-frame machine. The Q1 Pro offers a larger build volume (245mm vs 220mm) and the heated chamber, making it a much better value for a mere $50 to $100 more.

Qidi Q1 Pro vs. Anycubic Kobra 3

The Kobra 3 ($349) is another open-frame bed slinger focused on multi-color printing via the ACE Pro system. It suffers from severe firmware bugs and poor print quality out of the box. The Q1 Pro is a significantly more reliable and capable machine, provided you don't need multi-color capabilities right now.


7. Who Should Buy the Q1 Pro

Buy the Qidi Q1 Pro if: You are on a strict budget of $500 and you absolutely need to print functional, structural parts in ABS, ASA, Polycarbonate, or Nylon. You don't care about multi-color printing, and you don't mind a printer that feels a bit cheap on the outside as long as the kinematics on the inside are solid.

Do NOT buy the Qidi Q1 Pro if: You are a beginner looking for a flawless, plug-and-play experience. If you only want to print colorful PLA toys and statues, the heated chamber is completely useless to you, and you will be much happier with the software polish of a Bambu Lab A1. Furthermore, if you are uncomfortable with the idea of potentially dealing with electrical safety quirks, look elsewhere.


8. Verdict

The Qidi Tech Q1 Pro is a paradox. On one hand, it offers a 60°C active heated chamber, a 350°C nozzle, and CoreXY speed for under $500. It produces dimensionally accurate, warp-free engineering parts that rival machines costing three times as much. On the other hand, it is hampered by cheap plastic panels, a terrible spool holder, outdated firmware, and a genuinely alarming electrical safety oversight on the chamber heater.

It is not a refined product, but it is an undeniably powerful tool. If you need to print high-temperature materials on a budget and are willing to accept the rough edges, the Q1 Pro stands alone in its price bracket.
